Birthday Book Club
The PTA sponsors a Birthday Book Club at each school as a way to add books to our school libraries. Parents can donate a book to their child's school library in the month of their child's birthday. (See the HKMS Birthday Book Club form.) For more information, contact a committee chairperson.
Book Fair
Each school holds a book fair during the year, where students can purchase books.
Volunteers Needed - Several volunteers are needed to set up and help during the sales. Contact a committee chairperson to volunteer.
Bulb Sale
The PTA holds a bulb sale each fall at each school. The bulbs arrive mid-October. For more information, contact the committee chairperson.
Bus Manual
In 2006, the PTA created a bus manual. For more information, contact the committee chairperson.
Celebration of Books
Celebration of Books is an opportunity for families to purchase books for their child's school library and classroom. Teachers create a wish list, available throughout the year, although the emphasis is during the week of the book fair. For more information, contact a committee chairperson.
Cookie Dough Fundraiser
The PTA sponsors a cookie dough sale at each school in the fall. For more information, contact a committee chairperson.
Destination Imagination
Destination Imagination (formerly Odyssey of the Mind) is a state program where small groups of students in grades 2 through 8 work together to solve real-life problems in one of five categories, then present the solution in a performance skit of no more than eight minutes in length. For more information about this state program, see www.ctom.org.
Volunteers Needed - One co-chair is needed, as well as other volunteers to coach small groups of students. Contact the committee chairperson to volunteer.
Education Committee (EdCom)
The Education Committee is dedicated to supporting and enhancing Easton’s public schools, with respect for the needs of the entire community. EdCom is committed to providing factual information to the public to ensure that voters make informed decisions on education issues. We encourage participation of all segments of Easton’s population, because we believe that the well-being of the whole town depends on the health of its schools. A good public education is not only Easton’s obligation to its children, but also the town’s gift to the future.
Volunteers Needed - One co-chair is needed, as well as other volunteers to help in the following areas: research and dissemination of education issues, representation at town meetings, phone calls, and signage. Contact the committee chairperson to volunteer.
Enrichment Programs
The PTA supports various enrichment programs at SSES and HKMS, both financially and with volunteers. The PTA remains responsive to school and student needs throughout the year. For more information, contact the committee chairperson.
Family Activities
The Family Activities committee coordinates various family activities throughout the school year, such as Bridgeport Bluefish game nights, Sound Tigers game nights, movie nights, and ice cream socials. For more information, contact the committee chairperson.
Family Portrait Day
The PTA organizes a family portrait day where families can have their family photos taken for the holidays. For more information, contact the committee chairperson.
Gift Wrap Fundraiser
The PTA sponsors a gift wrap sale at each school in the fall. For more information, contact the committee chairperson.

HKMS Cougar Connection Newsletter
The PTA produces a monthly newsletter for HKMS which is distributed to anyone who has signed up to receive email notices from HKMS. For more information, contact the committee chairperson.
HKMS Debate Club
The PTA underwrites costs associated with HKMS' Debate Club. For more information about the Debate Club, contact the coach, Mrs. Rose.
HKMS Drama Club
HKMS' Drama Club puts on an annual school play, which the PTA helps fund. For more information about the Drama Club, contact the club advisors, Mrs. Schweikert or Ms. Scrivani.
HKMS Field Hockey
The PTA helps fund HKMS' field hockey team. For more information about the field hockey team, contact the coach, Ms. Scrivani.
HKMS Garden Club
The PTA underwrites costs associated with HKMS' Garden Club. For more information, contact the committee chairperson.
HKMS Grade Parents
Similar to SSES room parents, HKMS has grade parents for each of the three grades at HKMS. Grade parents assist staff in a wide variety of activities such as field trips, the school store, parent coffees, grade-specific projects, 8th grade graduation, and the media center. You must be a member of the PTA to be a grade parent
HKMS Newspaper Club
The PTA supports HKMS' student-run Newspaper Club, which publishes the Keller Teller several times throughout the school year, by funding printing of the newspaper and providing parent volunteers to help with the club.
