Troubleshooting
Problems Getting Listserv Notices (Emails From the PTA)
Are you having problems receiving emails from the PTA via the listserv? Try these steps.
- If you are not receiving any email messages from the PTA, verify that you have signed up for the listserv. There is one listserv for the PTA (Easton PTA), one for SSES (Samuel Staples Elementary School), and one for HKMS (Helen Keller Middle School). If you have students at both Easton schools, you should sign up for all three listservs.
- If you are receiving the emails from the PTA, but you cannot read them (the email messages look like strings of code), are you receiving emails from SSES or HKMS that you can read? If emails from SSES or HKMS are also unreadable, your email client software might have certain protections that are preventing you from viewing HTML emails. That is, your email client software might only allow you to view messages as plain text.
Problems Opening PDF Files (School Newsletters)
Are you having problems trying to download a school newsletter or other PDF file? Try these steps.
- If clicking on a PDF file link does not open the file, save the PDF file to your hard drive.
- On a PC, right-click on the PDF link and select "Save File As" or "Save Target As."
- On a Mac, control-click on the PDF link and select "Save File As" or "Save Target As."
- You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer to open PDF files. The program is free and can be downloaded from the Adobe website at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html?promoid=BUIGO.

- Most of the PDF files on this website will open with older versions of Adobe Acrobat Reader, as far back as version 5. But if you are running an old version of Acrobat Reader, you might want to upgrade your version to the latest. See the previous step above.
- See if you can open PDF files from other websites. For example, go to the town library's, Parks & Recs's, or ECC's websites (see links on the home page), and try opening a PDF file on those sites. If you are unable to open PDF files on other websites, there may be a setting in your internet browser software preventing this. You could try using a different browser software. There are lots of free browsers you can download: Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, etc.
